We headed to Raleigh Friday night when Big J got home from work to spend some time with Mimi & Granddaddy Jim over the holiday weekend. Little did we know this would be the night Little J decided he was going to HATE his carseat! We thought we had timed everything just right...Jeremiah had been fed, bathed, and had his PJs on. He was rubbing his eyes and was very sleepy as we buckled him in, so sleepy that he was out by the time we hit I-40. We're happily rolling eastward and then a little whimper, followed by a lot of loud, inconsolable screams came from the back. Surely something has to be wrong with our sweet, happy baby. So we quickly pull off to get him out, calmed down. And he did just that. Yay - peace restored! Until we put him back in the carseat. And then we had another hour of screams to deal with until we got to Raleigh.
This pretty much repeated itself today on the way back home. Again, perfect timing for J's afternoon nap. And nap he did until we got to Mebane, when he decided he would need to scream for the entire way home. And why stop there? He fussed and cried for about 2 hours after we got home too. Maybe he wanted to go back to Raleigh? He certainly wasn't very happy to be home.
God's wisdom is infinite and he certainly knew not to give us a colicky baby. I seriously don't know how parents do it when their baby cries constantly. We were about to lose it after 3 hours of crying. Please Lord, whatever babies you have planned for our future, make them healthy & happy like Little J because we are SPOILED!
Note to Jeremiah - we have a few trips planned in the coming summer months so you better start loving your carseat or we are ALL in for a few LONG road trips ahead.
Thankfully the screams were pretty limited to the car, so on to happier times! Little J enjoyed visiting with Mimi & Granddaddy Jim, some fun times with Great-Grandpa Brannan, and even a few short minutes with Uncle Todd & Angie before they headed off on their tropical vacation (so glad you made it!!). Some of the weekend's activities included stroller rides in the neighborhood, a visit to Lake Lynn to ride on the swings, and hanging out at the Farmer's Market.
Think Little J enjoyed himself? Could he look more laid-back and happy if he tried??
Mommy & Daddy enjoyed some time out & about without Little J, although in this picture Daddy is still enjoying some of his yummy NC Seafood!
Looking forward to many more fun visits with Mimi & Granddaddy!
